creative path
lija kramer
lija kramer is an experimental music artist and composer.
Her path in music began at the age of five, when she started playing the piano. As a teenager, Lija experimented a great deal with piano and computer music, wrote and recorded songs, and performed at school events and international competitions. She had the chance to write the music for the animated film “Argon”. Already in those years she won first prize at competitions in Paris (2009), Prague and Vienna (2010), second prize at a competition in Kazan (2018), and took part in the Oleg Lundstrem Competition (2019).
She graduated from a specialized music school in piano (performer, teacher, accompanist), and later from the Kazan N. G. Zhiganov Conservatory in music sound engineering.
While working in Kazan, Lija taught for many years at the School of Rock. She later headed the composition department of the music studio “Sing in My Soul” (2020–2022), and then founded her own experimental music and recording studio, lija kramer’s music lab (2021–2023), which became a creative magnet for composers, performers and producers. In this period the piano triptych paracosm was born — with essays and illustrations, performed in Zurich, Bern, Biel, Moscow, Kazan and Warsaw.
Throughout the years she ran her studio, Lija kept exploring as a composer — writing pieces, songs and arrangements, and producing sound design for the stage. Already then her favourite tools for music and sound art were Ableton, Omnisphere and the Yamaha Motif synthesizer.
In 2024 she left it all behind and continued her creative path in Switzerland — now as a sound artist, settling in Bern. Here she released the album little cat, produced and recorded entirely in Switzerland, in the university’s studios.
She began lecturing at HKB (Bern): “the art of sound recording and vocal production” and “Where are my sounds?! (music psychology)”. In June 2025 the article “the creator” about her appeared in a Swiss newspaper, and that autumn came awakening, the piano piece reworked in Bern.
Her projects are aesthetically expressive and emotionally deep. Exploring contemporary musical art and poetic text, lija kramer builds new ways of working with musical texture. Drawing at once on the European classical school and her Tatar heritage, she creates music rich in colour and authenticity.
Lija currently works in Bern, Switzerland, and is open to collaborations in various locations and online.
