old tracks, finally in one place
I had an old computer with Windows and a program called MuLab. I clicked the notes into the piano roll one by one. Sometimes I played them in on a MIDI keyboard.
That is why everything sounds a bit robotic. For a long time I didn’t really show these tracks to anyone. Now I think they are closer to sound art than to the indie pop and neoclassical music I wrote later.
The tracks were spread over old folders and my phone. I collected 64 of them and put them in order. Every track has a picture that I saved back then, mostly from tumblr, around 2015–2019: the sea, roads, power lines, a pink sky over a block of flats.
As a teenager I didn’t value myself much. Listening to these tracks now gives me a lot of energy. It turns out that was the real me.

Later I wrote “real” music: indie pop, neoclassical. Those are songs. These early tracks are something else: tiny electronic landscapes made with no rules, no teacher and no budget.
